Oedipus, eternal hero, many times an inspiration throughout the ages, a contemporary vision of Oedipus was proposed by Henry Bauchau in his homonymous novel as well as in Oedipus on the Road. The novel tells the story of Oedipus after the tragedy, when he realizes that he has committed incest and parricide. Oedipus tears out his eyes and becomes this eternal beggar who walks the roads.
